Sushma Sharma now known as Sushma Swaraj age 65 years born on 14th February 1952 in Ambala Cantonment, Punjab, India (now in Haryana, India). Her parents are father Hardev Sharma and mother Shrimati Laxmi Devi, her father was a prominent Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh member. Sushma’s parents belong from the area named Dharampura in Lahore, Pakistan.
She attended Sanatan Dharma College in Ambala and did her graduation in Political Science and Sanskrit. Later on, Swaraj studied Law from Punjab University, Chandigarh. She was the Best Hindi Speaker, she won the competition for three consecutive years. Sushma found her life partner in her fellow advocate at Supreme Court of India Swaraj Kaushal and married him on 13th July 1975. His husband is well renowned senior advocate in Supreme Court of India and also a criminal lawyer who served for 1990-1993 as Governor of Mizoram.
The couple has a daughter named Bansuri who has done her graduation from Oxford University and is a Barrister at law from Inner Temple. Sushma has 2 siblings, one sister named Vandana Sharma is working in Haryana as an Associate Professor of Political Science in a government college for girls, and brother Dr. Gulshan Sharma is an Ayurveda Doctor in Ambala. She has shown her hardwork on every post she has been assigned on from 1977-82 Swaraj was appointed as Member of Haryana Legislative Assembly, for the year 1977- 79 she was appointed as Cabinet Minister of Labour and Employment by Government of Haryana, then Sushma was appointed as Cabinet Minister of Education, Food and Civil Supplies by Government of Haryana for the year 1987- 90, was also elected to Rajya Sabha for period 1990- 96, Sushma was the Member of Eleventh Lok Sabha for 1996- 97.
In the year 1996 she was assigned the post of Union Cabinet Minister, Information and Broadcasting, in November 1998 Sushma was elected from Hauz has Assembly constituency of Delhi Assembly, forthe yearr 2000-2003 Sushma Swaraj was appointed as Minister of Information and Broadcasting, she has worked on the post of Minister of Health and Family Welfare and also the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, also the member of 15th Lok Sabha for period of 2009 – 2014, on 21sr December, 2009 – 18th May 2014 she was the Leader of Opposition and replaced Lal Krishna Advani, from 2014 til now she has been assigned the duty of External Affairs Minister in the Union of India.
