Sakshi Malik was born in Mokhra Village, Rohtak District, Haryana, India on 3rd September, 1992. She is 25 years old girl who have achieved a lot and had made our India proud by winning bronze medal in 58Kg category female wrestling, and became the first Indian Female Wrestler to win a medal in Olympic. Along with Babita Kumari, Geeta Phogat and Vinesh Phogat, she is a part of the JSW Sports Excellence Program. She has been coached by many coaches such as Ishwar Dahiya, Kuldeep Malik, Kripa Shankar and Manjeet. Her parents are father Sukhbir, who is a bus conductor with DTC (Delhi Transport Corporation) and mother Sudesh Malik, who is a Supervisor at a local health clinic. Sakshi’s interest in wrestling developed by watching his grandfather do wrestling in Akhada. She started learning wrestling at the age of 12, at an Akhara in Rohtak under coach Ishwar Dahiya. Earlier Sakshi used to work as senior clerk with Indian Railways but after she won a bronze medal in Summer Olympics, she got promoted to the rank of a Gazetted Officer. Malik has also completed her studies with her sports, she did her master’s degree in Physical Education in Rohtak from Maharshi Dayanand, and was appointed as the university’s wrestling director in September, 2016. After her winning she was married to Satyawart Kadian in 2016, her husband is also an international level wrestler and has made India proud by winning medals for the country. Sakshi started her wrestling career by participating in the International arena in 2010 at the Junior World Championship where she won bronze medal In 2014 she won the Gold medal in the 60 Kg category. Afterwards she participated in Commonwealth Championship in 2013 and won Bronze medal in 63 Kg, and then she never topped and worked more hard, afterwards she participated in Asian Championships in 2015 and won Bronze medal and silver medal in New Delhi event in 60 Kg category, in 2014 Sakshi participated in 2014 Commonwealth Games and won Silver medal, and for year 2016 she won Bronze medal in Olympic Games held in Rio De Janerio in 58 kg category. She has won many accolades such as in 2016 she won Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award and for year 2017 Sakshi won Padma Shri and many more.
