Rakhi is an Indian actress, model, dancer and television talk show host, who appeared in many Hindi and a few Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Telugu and Tamil films. She was also a contestant on Bigg Boss. Rakhi Sawant, born on 25 November 1979 to Jaya Bheda and Neeru Bheda. Jaya married with Anand Sawant, a police constable at Worli police station.
Rakhi made her film debut in Agnichakr under the name Ruhi Sawan. Then she went on to other small roles and dance numbers in the low budget films such as Joru Ka Ghulam, Jis Desh main Ganga Rehta Hain and Yeh Raaste Hai Pyaar Ke. I 2003, she gave an audition for an item number in the film “Chura Liya Hai Tumne”. She almost auditioned about four times before being selected for her breakthrough item number, Mohabbat Hai Mirchi which was composed by Himesh Reshammiya. She also acted in small roles in the film including Masti and Main Hoon Na.
In 2005, she appeared in music video Pardesiya of music album “D.J. Hot Remix-vol 3”. After some years she appeared in the first year of Bigg Boss, the greatest reality show and was among the top four finalists. Rakhi, made her singing debut in the album “Super Girl” launched by Venus Records in 2007. In 2009, she launched her reality show named Rakhi Ka Swayamwar in which she planned to select her future husband by the ancient ritual of Swayamwar. On 2 August 2009, she decided her life partner, a contestant from Toronto, Canada, Elesh Parujanwala. But several months later, the couple announced that they had separated due to irreconcilable differences. Often, she appeared in reality shows as a host, judge or a participant. She is a regular stage performer.
She, launched her own political party, the Rashtriya Aam Party to contest the 2004 Lok Sabha Elections, there was no party symbol assigned by the election commission. After elections, she joined the Republican Party of India. She, often been in news due to her actions and statements that are deemed controversial in the Indian context. She resigned from Rashtriya Aam Party and joined RPI party in June 2004 and expressed her desire to work for Dalits. She serves as a party’s state vice-president and president of the woman wing. On 4 April 2017, Rakhi was arrested by Punjab police about her remarks on Rishi Valmiki.
Recently, she announced that she is getting married to Deepak Kalal who is an internet personality.
