Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), is a Schedule ‘A’, ‘Maharatna’ Public Sector Enterprise of Govt. of India which was founded on 23rd Oct 1989 under the Company Act, 1956. The basic principle of the ESPP are Avoidance, Minimization, and Mitigation and it outlines POWERGRID's commitment to deal with environmental and social issues relating to its projects and lays out management procedures and protocol to address them. The ESPP has been revised twice in 2005 and 2009 to make it updated in line with the changed rules and guidelines of Govt. of India, including that of multilateral funding agencies like the World Bank, ADB, JBIC, etc. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. has been ranked as the “Best Company by country” and its CMD, Shri R.N. Nayak, as the” Best CEO” of All-Asia in the Power Sector Category during the year 2013 by Institutional Investors.
POWERGRID was recognized for excellence along many dimensions including infrastructure, sustainability, etc, and has received a number of awards in various categories by Govt. of India and other prestigious organizations & institutes as its recent awards are the Best CSR Practices Award by the World CSR Congress at the 11th edition of World CSR Congress & Awards, Awarded with the prestigious "Technology Solution of the Year" award by Assocham, Kolkata, get Certificate of Appreciation for support to District Administration Gurugram under CSR during COVID-19 in 2022.
