She was born on 25 September 1977 in Ludhiana, Punjab, India. Her mother name is Dr. Nalini Dutta, she is a government officer and doctor. Her father was passed away when she was just 7 years old. She started her career as a model before venturing in films, she also appeared in a music video in the year 2001 by music duo Basement Jaxx. She made her first debut in 1994 by film Ishq Mein Jeena Ishq Mein Marna. In 1995 she got a chance to play the lead role in film Veergati opposite to Salman Khan. After this, she played many supporting roles acting in many Hindi and Punjabi films.
