Dia was born on 9 December 1981 in Hyderabad, Telangana. Her father name is Frank Handrich and he was a German Christian graphic designer and her mother name is Deepa, she is a Bengali Hindu. She did her schooling from Vidyaranya High School for Girls & Boys. She completed her graduation in Bachelor of Arts from Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad. She is married to her longtime business partner Sahil Sangha, they got married on 18 October 2014 in New Delhi. While she was in college Dia worked as a marketing executive for a media firm.
