Arunasalam Murugadoss popularly known as AR Murugadoss who is an Indian film director, screenwriter, producer. AR Murugadoss is best known for his Telugu & Tamil action films and is also known for remaking the films in Hindi Cinema. His Hindi remake includes Ghajini who was released in 2008 starring Aamir Khan, Holiday which was released in 2014 starring Akshay Kumar.
From his college days, Murugadoss had a keen interest in Writing, Cultural Events, Drawing. After completed his graduation he applied for Madras Film Institute but got rejected. Later he worked as an assistant writer of P. Kalaimani then he became assistant director of Ratchagan film. S. J. Surya gives Murugadoss his breakthrough by offering director of film Dheena. After the success of Dheena, the director didn't look back and gave several hits like Ramana, Ghajini etc.
The director won the Filmfare Award for Best Director for Kaththi (Tamil action drama film) which was released in 2014. The initial 'AR' in the name of AR Murugadoss which denotes his father's name Arunasalam was later added after the producer signed his first film Dheena. Murugadoss completed his school education from Government High Secondary School and completed his graduation from Bishop Heber College, Tiruchirapalli.
Murugadoss won several awards and some of them are Guild Award for Best Director for movie Ghajini, Big Star Most Entertaining Action Film 2014 for Holiday, Stardust Awards for Hottest New Filmmaker 2009 for Ghajini, Vinay Award for Favourite Director 2015 for Kaththi, Thuppakki.
