Unlock Your Potential with the Learning Fund for Young Adults (LFYA)

Are you a current or former child or youth in care in British Columbia? The Learning Fund for Young Adults (LFYA) offers a golden opportunity to support your educational, training, or life-skills development goals. This one-time grant of $1,500 is designed to help you unlock your potential and build a brighter future.

What is the LFYA?

The Learning Fund for Young Adults (LFYA) is a unique initiative created to ensure that youth and young adults in care have comparable access to the BC Training and Education Savings Grant (BCTESG). Originally, the BCTESG provided a one-time grant to Registered Education Savings Plans (RESPs) for children aged 6 to 9 upon application by their caregivers. However, recognizing the unique challenges faced by children in care, the LFYA was introduced to extend similar benefits.

The LFYA grant is in addition to other supports available to youth and young adults in care, including those accessing Strengthening Abilities and Journeys of Empowerment (SAJE) agreements. This comprehensive support system is designed to empower you as you pursue your goals, whether in education, employment, or life skills.

To be eligible for the LFYA grant, you must meet the following criteria:
