Trade License Registration: A Step-by-Step Guide

Obtaining a trade license can seem daunting, but this guide simplifies the process for businesses in India. Follow these steps and stay compliant!

Trade License Essentials:

  • SOP: Familiarize yourself with the Trade Commercial License Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for your specific municipality.
  • Guarantee: Understand the Public Service Guarantee (PSG) outlining turnaround times and service standards.
  • Tariff: Check the applicable Trade License Tariff to estimate fees.

Registration Process:

Eligibility: Ensure your business/service falls under the Municipal Corporation Act of 366 and 132.

Documents: Gather required documents:

  • ID proof: Voter ID, PAN Card, Driving License, Aadhaar Card, Rent Agreement, or Partnership document.
  • Premises proof: For owned premises, provide a property tax receipt or registration details. For rented premises, submit a self-attested rent agreement photocopy and a photocopy of the property tax receipt.

Online Application: Submit your application and documents through the e-Nagarpalika portal. You'll receive a unique registration number and the application will be routed for approval.

Approval Stages: The application receives recommendations from ARO (revenue) before reaching the Deputy Commissioner/Assistant Commissioner/Additional Commissioner for final approval.

Fees and Certificate: Upon approval, you'll be notified and prompted to pay fees through the portal. Once fees are paid, a system-generated trade registration certificate with a digital signature will be issued. You can download it from the portal.
