Submitting a Consumption of Goods Within a Designated Zone Declaration in the UAE: A Step-by-Step Guide

Need to declare goods consumed within a UAE Designated Zone? This guide will walk you through the process on the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) website. Here's how to submit your declaration smoothly:

Before You Begin:

  • Make sure you have an active EmaraTax account. If not, you can sign up on the FTA website (https://tax.gov.ae/en/).
  • Have your login credentials or UAE Pass ready for easy access.
  • Gather details about the designated zone, excisable goods consumed (including quantity and designated price), and the consumption date.

Let's Get Started!

Login to EmaraTax: Head to the EmaraTax portal and log in using your registered email and password or UAE Pass.

Select Taxable Person: Once logged in, click on "User Type" and choose "Taxable Person" from the options. Then, proceed by clicking "Proceed."

Navigate to Excise Tax Module: Click on "Taxable Person" and then locate the "Excise Tax" module. This is where you'll find the designated zone declaration option.

Create a New Declaration: Within the Excise Tax module, click on "Create New" to initiate the "Consumption of Goods within a Designated Zone" declaration process.

Filling Up the Declaration:

  • Basic Information: This section displays your pre-filled taxpayer information based on your Excise Registration profile.
  • Origin Designated Zone: Enter the zone number and click "Validate" to confirm its details.
  • Consumption Date: Select the date the excisable goods were consumed within the designated zone.

Adding Excise Goods:

  • Upload Template: Download the template provided by the FTA, fill it with your excise good details (HS code, description, quantity, designated price), and upload it for automatic population in the grid.
  • Search and Select: Alternatively, search the FTA's Excise Goods list directly. Choose the relevant item from the search results and click "Select Item" to add it to your declaration.

Item Details: Review the selected item's details and enter the "Designated Price (AED)" and "Quantity" consumed.

Review & Declaration: Carefully review your completed declaration. You can expand/collapse sections for a clearer view. Ensure all information is accurate and complete before ticking the confirmation checkbox.

Submit the Declaration: Click "Submit" to finalize the process.

Acknowledgement: You'll receive a confirmation message with a transaction number for future reference. You can also access this declaration within the "EX202A – Consumption Of Goods Within A Designated Zone" section of the Excise Tax module.

Bonus Tips:

  • Download the offline template beforehand to save time during the process.
  • Download a copy of the submitted declaration acknowledgement for your records.
