Step-by-Step Guide to Changing the Name on Your LPG Connection
Changing the name on your LPG connection can be necessary for various reasons such as the death of the connection holder, marriage, or transfer within the family. This guide will explain the detailed process for each scenario, ensuring a smooth transition.
Scenario 1: Death of the SV Holder
To transfer the connection to a legal heir or family member after the death of the consumer:
Required Documents:
- Application with details
- Legal Heir Certificate
- NOC from other legal heirs of the deceased
- Death Certificate
- Completed KYC form with Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA)
- Affidavit if the original SV is lost
Process:
- Submit the documents to the distributor.
- The distributor will prepare a Termination Voucher (TV) and issue a new Subscription Voucher (SV) in the beneficiary family member's name.
- The security deposit remains the same as in the original SV.
Special Note: If unable to produce a Legal Heir Certificate, contact the Bharatgas distributorship for further assistance.
Scenario 2: Due to Marriage
To change the name due to marriage:
Required Documents:
- Application with details
- Marriage Certificate
- Original SV or Affidavit for the loss of SV
Process:
- Submit the documents to the distributor.
- The deposit remains the same as in the original SV.
Scenario 3: Change Within Family During Lifetime
To transfer the LPG connection within the family (father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, spouse):
Required Documents:
- Written consent from the original SV holder (Annexure A)
- Notarized affidavit from the receiving family member (Annexure B)
- Completed KYC form with POI and POA
- Affidavit if the original SV is lost
Process:
- Submit the documents to the distributor.
- The name will be changed by preparing a TV and issuing a new SV in the beneficiary family member's name.
- The deposit remains the same as in the original SV.
Scenario 4: Person in Possession of Cylinder and SV
If the person is holding the cylinder, regulator, and SV of an authorized customer:
Required Documents:
- Consent from the original SV holder (Annexure A)
- Notarized affidavit from the actual holder (Annexure B)
- Completed KYC form with POI and POA
- Affidavit if the original SV is lost
Process:
- Submit the documents to the distributor.
- The distributor will issue a new SV in the present holder's name after collecting any differential security deposit.
Alternative Process:
- If unable to submit the consent letter, provide a notarized affidavit (Annexure C) indemnifying BPCL.
- Follow the same steps to receive a new SV.
Scenario 5: Person Holding Cylinder Without Connecting Document
If the person holds the LPG equipment without any connecting document (SV/DGCC):
Required Documents:
- Notarized affidavit
- Completed KYC form with POI and POA
