Seeking Clarification on Allegations Regarding China's Actions and India's Response

In recent times, geopolitical tensions have been running high, particularly between India and China. Amidst these tensions, Subramanian Swamy, a prominent Indian politician and six-time Member of Parliament, has stirred the pot by making serious allegations against China's actions and questioning India's response. These allegations have prompted a concerned citizen, Pradeep V, to file a Right to Information (RTI) request seeking clarification on the matter.

The RTI request, registered under the code MOEAF/R/E/22/01157 and received on 16th October 2022, raises critical questions about recent developments along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China. It questions whether the Chinese army has indeed crossed the mutually agreed LAC and occupied significant portions of Indian territory, specifically mentioning Depsang, Galwan, and Kailash hills.

Furthermore, the request highlights claims made by Subramanian Swamy regarding Chinese President Xi's alleged distribution of a map at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting. According to Swamy, this map reportedly asserts Chinese sovereignty over Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, with Chinese names replacing traditional Indian ones in official atlases. Additionally, it alleges that Russia has adopted similar Chinese naming conventions in its maps.

These allegations, if true, carry significant implications for India's territorial integrity and diplomatic relations with China and Russia. They also raise concerns about India's response to such provocations and the clarity of communication from the External Affairs Ministry regarding these matters.

Pradeep V's RTI request seeks clarification from the External Affairs Ministry on whether they agree or disagree with Subramanian Swamy's assertions. The request emphasizes the national importance of these issues and expresses concern that Swamy's tweets may be fueling unnecessary discussions and confusion among Indian citizens.

The RTI request reflects a citizen's right to seek transparency and accountability from government authorities on matters of public interest, especially those concerning national security and foreign relations. It underscores the need for clarity and accurate information in navigating complex geopolitical situations and shaping public discourse.

As the External Affairs Ministry processes Pradeep V's request, it is hoped that the response provided will shed light on the veracity of the allegations and provide reassurance to concerned citizens regarding India's stance on critical issues concerning its sovereignty and security.
