Introduction

Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 are central to the Government's mission to enhance early childhood care and development, aiming for a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047. The initiative includes the upgradation of Anganwadi Centers (AWCs) to modern, well-equipped facilities and addresses the nutritional needs of children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers.

Scheme Components and Implementation

Mission Poshan 2.0 reorganizes and integrates various components of nutritional support and early childhood care under a single, cohesive strategy. The program targets:

  • Children below the age of 6 years
  • Pregnant women and lactating mothers
  • Adolescent girls in aspirational districts and the North Eastern States

The mission focuses on enhancing the infrastructure of Anganwadi centers, transforming them into Saksham Anganwadis equipped with modern amenities like internet connectivity, LED screens, water purifiers, and educational materials.
