Reaching Delhi University: A Traveler's Guide

Delhi University is a sprawling campus with multiple entrances. This guide will help you navigate your way from various arrival points in the city.

From the Airport:

  • Prepaid/Radio Taxi: The most convenient option from both Domestic and International Terminals. Expect to pay ₹400-500. Ola and Uber may be cheaper.
  • Metro (Domestic Airport):
    1. Take the metro feeder bus to the Airport Express Line (Aerocity station).
    2. At New Delhi station, switch to the Yellow Line towards Samaypur Badli/Vishwavidyalaya.
    3. Get off at Vishwavidyalaya station. Total fare around ₹65.
  • Metro (International Airport): Board the metro directly at Terminal 3 (IGI Airport) and follow the same route as above. Total fare around ₹75.

From Train Stations:

  • New Delhi Station: Take the Yellow Line metro towards Samaypur Badli/Vishwavidyalaya. Get off at Vishwavidyalaya. Metro fare is ₹15. Taxis or auto-rickshaws are also available (under ₹250 and ₹100 respectively).
  • Old Delhi Station: A taxi or auto-rickshaw is the most direct option (under ₹250 and ₹100 respectively). Alternatively, take the Yellow Line from Chandni Chowk station. Metro fare is ₹12.
  • Hazrat Nizamuddin Station: Taxi to DU or take an auto-rickshaw to Jangpura or JLN Stadium metro stations. From there, take the Violet Line to Central Secretariat, then switch to the Yellow Line towards Vishwavidyalaya.

From ISBT (Bus Terminal):

  • Kashmere Gate ISBT: The closest metro station is Kashmere Gate. Take the Yellow Line towards Vishwavidyalaya. Metro fare is ₹10. Taxis (under ₹200) and auto-rickshaws (under ₹70) are also available.
  • Anand Vihar ISBT: Take the Blue Line towards Dwarka, then change to the Yellow Line at Rajiv Chowk towards Vishwavidyalaya. Metro fare is ₹21.

Charges:

  • Prepaid Taxi: ₹25 for the first kilometer, then ₹14/km (non-AC) or ₹16/km (AC).
  • Radio Taxi: ₹40 for the first kilometer, then the same as prepaid taxis.
  • Auto-Rickshaw: ₹25 for the first 2 kilometers, then ₹8/km.
  • Metro: Varies by distance. Consider a 1-day (₹100) or 3-day (₹250) pass if traveling frequently.
