RCBA Election Committee Uncovers Serious Irregularities: 21 Candidates Withdraw Amidst Scrutiny

Delhi, August 12, 2024 — The Rohini Court Bar Association (RCBA) Election Committee is facing a turbulent pre-election period, as a recent meeting held on August 12, 2024, has brought to light serious irregularities among the candidates. A staggering 21 candidates have submitted applications to withdraw their nominations, citing various reasons, which has raised eyebrows within the legal community.

The Election Committee, led by Advocate Sanjeev Bisla and Advocate Aseem Bhardwaj, met in the chamber of the Honorable Chairman, Judge Vijay Kumar Dahiya, to discuss the latest developments. The Nodal Officer, Sunil Dutt, reported that the withdrawal applications have been received and processed. The committee unanimously agreed to accept these withdrawals and marked the necessary changes in the tentative candidate list.

License Suspensions and Fake Degrees

One of the most shocking revelations was the receipt of a list from the Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) containing names of members whose licenses have been suspended, those with fake degrees, and those who have transferred their memberships to other states. Additionally, the list includes candidates who have not cleared the All India Bar Examination (AIBE), a mandatory requirement for practicing law.

Exemptions and Queries

The committee also discussed the need to seek clarification from the BCD regarding exemptions from the AIBE exam. Specifically, questions were raised about members who completed their LLB before 2011 but registered after that year—whether they are exempt from the AIBE requirement or not. The committee decided to send an official letter to the BCD seeking answers to these crucial questions.

Digital Signatures and Further Scrutiny

In addition to the withdrawal applications and license issues, the committee also addressed administrative concerns, including the digital signature key for issuing RCBA identity cards. A letter has been issued to the Honorary Secretary of the RCBA to expedite this process.

Moreover, the committee received a letter from Advocate Vichitra Kumar, requesting that ordersheets annexed with declaration forms be displayed on the court portal. This matter will be reviewed in the next meeting, scheduled for August 16, 2024.

What’s Next?

As the RCBA election date approaches, the committee will continue to scrutinize the remaining candidates. The recent revelations have already sent shockwaves through the legal community, and the outcome of these investigations could significantly impact the election.

The minutes of this meeting have been uploaded to the Rohini Court website for public access. The next committee meeting will further review the progress on August 16, 2024, at 03:00 PM in the Chairman's chamber.
