Gorakhpur, 09 August 2024: In a significant crackdown on theft and fraud, the Gorakhpur Police have arrested two individuals involved in multiple cases of cheating and theft in the region. The arrests were made under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police, Gorakhpur, as part of an ongoing campaign to curb such criminal activities.
On 16 July 2024, the complainant was boarding an auto-rickshaw at the Gurriha Chauraha. During the journey, three passengers in the auto-rickshaw pretended to divide a bundle of money among themselves and persuaded the complainant to hold the bundle. When the auto stopped at an isolated location, they forcefully took the complainant's valuables and fled. Upon inspection, the bundle of money given to the complainant was found to be fake, consisting of only paper.
On 07 July 2024, the complainant was in the Tihit Bazar when unknown individuals stole a purse containing a pair of gold earrings and Rs 2,000.
On 04 August 2024, at Tihit Nahi Police, the complainant reported that a pair of gold earrings was snatched by the accused.
Based on the complaints, FIRs were registered at the local police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
