New Delhi, India (July 1, 2023): Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the crucial role of cooperatives in achieving a "Developed and Self-Reliant India" during his address at the 17th Indian Cooperative Congress in New Delhi. The event, themed "Amrit Kaal: Prosperity through Cooperation for a Vibrant India," saw the launch of e-commerce platforms for cooperative marketing and advisory services.
PM Modi highlighted the government's commitment to farmer welfare, revealing over ₹10 lakh crore spent on fertilizer subsidies in the past nine years. He also detailed the recent ₹3.7 lakh crore package and increased MSP for sugarcane farmers, directly benefiting five lakh farmers and sugar mill workers.
The Prime Minister stressed the significance of collaboration between the government and cooperatives ("Sarkar and Sahkaar") during the "Amrit Kaal" (period of transformation) to achieve the vision of a developed India. He also showcased the Gobardhan Scheme, which aims to convert waste into valuable resources.
