Mohanty Takes Helm of West Bengal Fisheries
IAS Officer Smrutiranjan Mohanty appointed as Director of Fisheries with additional charge of Managing Director of State Fisheries Development Corporation
The West Bengal government has announced the appointment of Sh. Smrutiranjan Mohanty, IAS, as the new Director of Fisheries. Mohanty, who currently serves as the Commissioner of Howrah Municipal Corporation, will also hold the additional charge of Managing Director of the State Fisheries Development Corporation.
New Role and Responsibilities
- Director of Fisheries: Mohanty will oversee the overall management and development of the state's fisheries sector.
- Managing Director, State Fisheries Development Corporation: He will also be responsible for leading the state-owned enterprise dedicated to promoting and developing fisheries in West Bengal.
- Replacing Dr. Vishwanath: Mohanty takes over these roles from Dr. Vishwanath, IAS, who has been serving in these positions until now.
