Kerala Government Sanctions Immediate Relief Aid for Flood Victims in Wayanad
Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: The Government of Kerala has issued an urgent directive to provide financial assistance to those affected by the recent floods in Wayanad. The relief measures were sanctioned following the floods that devastated several areas, including wards 10, 11, and 12 of the Meppadi Grama Panchayat on July 30, 2024.
Relief Package Details
The relief package includes the following provisions:
1. Immediate Relief for Affected Families
- Financial Aid: Affected families will receive ₹300 per day per person for 30 days as livelihood assistance. This aid is limited to one member per family. The assistance will be provided under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) guidelines.
- Additional Aid for Long-term Illness: Families with members undergoing prolonged treatment or bedridden will receive an additional ₹300 per day per person for 30 days. This assistance will be covered under the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF).
2. Emergency Assistance for Households
- Household Relief: Affected households will receive ₹10,000 as emergency financial assistance. This amount includes ₹5,000 from the SDRF and an additional ₹5,000 from the CMDRF.
Implementation and Governance
The order was issued under the authority of the Governor and has been communicated to the respective officials, including the District Collector of Wayanad, for immediate implementation. The directive emphasizes the timely and efficient distribution of funds to ensure relief reaches those in need without delay.
