How to Use the MCD Mobile App for Geo-Tagging Properties: A Step-by-Step Guide
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has introduced a mobile app feature that allows property owners to geo-tag their properties. This process involves assigning a unique latitude-longitude coordinate to a property, making it easier to locate and manage on a geographical map. Below is a detailed guide on how to use this feature effectively.
What is Geo-Tagging of Properties?
Geo-tagging of properties is the process of assigning a unique latitude-longitude coordinate to a property. By selecting the current location against any UPIC (Unique Property Identification Code) on a GIS (Geographic Information System) map, property owners can ensure that their property is correctly identified.
Why is Geo-Tagging Needed?
Once a property is geo-tagged, it can be easily located on a geographical map. This feature is essential for several reasons:
- Improved Service Provisioning: Geo-tagging helps MCD provide better services to citizens, as the property location information is accurate and easily accessible.
- Tax Monitoring: Non-tax-paying properties will also be visible on the GIS map, helping the MCD monitor and manage tax collection more effectively.
Benefits of Geo-Tagging for the Corporation
For MCD, geo-tagging offers the following advantages:
- Accuracy: Unlike dynamic addresses, latitude-longitude coordinates remain relatively permanent, providing a stable reference for property locations.
- Enhanced Service Delivery: Accurate location data enables MCD to improve service delivery and outreach to citizens.
