How to Reset, Unlock, or Change Passwords for AIS: A Step-by-Step Guide

If you're an Auckland Institute of Studies (AIS) student or staff member needing help resetting, unlocking, or changing your AIS account password, this guide will walk you through the process step by step.

Step 1: Access the AIS Portal

  • Visit the AIS portal at https://adm.ais.ac.nz/.
  • Enter your AIS username and password to log in.
  • If prompted, complete the multifactor authentication by verifying your AIS email ID and entering the required Captcha.

Step 2: Enroll for Additional Security

  • After logging in, follow the prompts to enroll in the additional security features.
  • Select two security questions from the list and provide answers (between 5 and 255 characters).
  • Save your recovery codes in case you forget the answers to your security questions.

Step 3: Change Your Password

  • To change your current password, log in and select the "Change Password" option.
  • Ensure your new password meets AIS’s complexity requirements: at least one capital letter, one number, one unique character, and a minimum of 12 characters in length.
  • Confirm your new password and click the "Change Password" button.

Step 4: Reset Your Password if Forgotten

  • If you've forgotten your password, click "Forgot your password" on the sign-in page.
  • Enter your AIS username and answer the security questions selected during enrollment.
  • After successful verification, create a new password following the requirements mentioned above.

Step 5: Unlock Your Account

  • AIS accounts automatically unlock after 15 minutes. However, if you need immediate access, visit the AIS account unlock page and follow the prompts.
  • Enter your username and Captcha, then click the "Unlock Account" button.

Step 6: Use Mobile Apps for Password Management

  • Download the ADSelfService Plus app from the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android).
