How to Reset and Manage Your GCSU Account Password Using Microsoft Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR)

Managing your GCSU account password just got easier with the Microsoft Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) system. Whether you need to change, reset, or unlock your password, this guide will walk you through the steps necessary to secure and manage your GCSU account. Follow these instructions to set up your authentication methods and recover your account if needed.

Step 1: Initial Setup for Microsoft SSPR

Sign in to the Portal:

  • Go to https://portal.office.com.
  • Sign in with your GCSU email address (e.g., firstname.lastname@gcsu.edu) and existing password.

Complete the SSPR Registration:

  • If prompted with “More information required,” click Next.
  • Enter your mobile number and choose “Text me a code” to verify.
  • If you prefer, set up different authentication methods like email or security questions.
  • Verify the method by entering the received code and clicking Next.
  • Click Done to complete the setup.

Set Up Additional Authentication Methods:

  • It’s recommended to add at least two different methods for flexibility.
  • To do this, sign in again, click your profile photo, select View account, then go to Security info.
  • Click Update Info to review or add methods.

Step 2: Adding or Changing Authentication Methods

Access the Security Info:

  • Sign in to https://portal.office.com.
  • Click your profile photo and select View account.
  • Under Security info, click Update Info.

Add or Update Methods:

  • To update an existing method, click Change.
  • To add a new method, click +Add sign-in method, select your preferred option, and verify it by entering the code received.

Step 3: Recovering Your Account
