How to Request a Printed VAT Certificate in the UAE: A Step-by-Step Guide

Are you a business owner in the UAE in need of a printed VAT certificate? This essential document can be used for various purposes, such as claiming VAT refunds or participating in tenders. But how do you go about obtaining a physical copy of your VAT certificate?

This guide will walk you through the process of requesting a printed VAT certificate in the UAE, all from the comfort of your computer.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

  • An active EmaraTax account with UAE Pass login enabled (or registered email and password).
  • The mobile number associated with your VAT registration (it can't be updated in this application).
  • A valid debit or credit card for the payment.

Steps to Request a Printed VAT Certificate

Login to EmaraTax: Head over to the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) website and log in to your EmaraTax account using your UAE Pass or registered credentials.

Select the Taxable Person: Upon successful login, you'll see a list of taxable persons linked to your account. Choose the relevant taxable person for whom you require the VAT certificate.

Request the Printed Certificate: Within the chosen taxable person's dashboard, locate the "Actions" section on the VAT tile. Click on it and select "Print Certificate" to initiate the application process.

Verify Mobile Number: The system will display the mobile number linked to your VAT registration. This number is crucial for delivery purposes, so double-check it for accuracy. If you need to update it, enter the new number and click "Send OTP" to receive a verification code.

Validate OTP: Enter the one-time password (OTP) sent to your mobile number and click "Validate" to confirm.

Proceed to Payment: Once the mobile number is verified, click on "Proceed to Payment" to initiate the payment process.

Select Payment Method: Review the displayed print certificate fees and choose your preferred payment method. The FTA offers various options, so select the one that best suits you.

Complete Payment: Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the payment securely. You'll be redirected to a secure payment gateway outside of EmaraTax.

Payment Confirmation: Upon successful payment, you'll receive a Payment Reference Number for your reference. The status of your request on the dashboard will change to "In Review," and you'll get a confirmation email from the FTA.

Download Payment Acknowledgement (Optional): You can download a PDF copy of the payment acknowledgement screen for your records.

Important Notes:

  • The processing time for a printed VAT certificate request can take up to 20 business days.
  • The FTA will deliver the certificate to your registered company address via express courier.
