How to Register for UAE Corporate Tax: A Step-by-Step Guide

Unsure how to navigate the UAE's Corporate Tax registration process? This guide will walk you through everything you need to know, from logging in to the EmaraTax portal to submitting your application.

Who Needs This Guide?

This guide is designed for businesses that are required to register for Corporate Tax in the UAE.

What You'll Need:

  • An EmaraTax account (you can sign up if you don't have one)
  • Your business license details
  • Information about your business activities and owners

Step-by-Step Registration Process:

Login to EmaraTax: Use your existing credentials or UAE Pass to access your EmaraTax account.

Start Your Corporate Tax Registration: Locate the "Corporate Tax" tile on the Taxable Person dashboard and click "Register" to initiate the application.

Review Guidelines and Instructions: Carefully read the information provided to ensure a smooth registration process. Click "Start" once you're ready to proceed.

Enter Entity Details: Select your business entity type from the dropdown menu. The required fields may vary depending on your selection. Note: Currently, only registrations for UAE Public Joint Stock Companies and UAE Private Companies (including Establishments) are accepted.

Provide Identification Details: Fill in the mandatory fields related to your main trade license.

Declare Business Activities: Click "Add Business Activities" and enter details for each activity associated with your trade license.

Add Owner Information: Click "Add Owners" and provide details for any individual or entity with a 25% or more ownership stake in your business.

Branch Details (if applicable): If you have branches, select "Yes" and add details for each branch, including trade license information, associated business activities, and owner list. Remember, registration happens under the head office meeting the criteria, not individual branches.

Enter Contact Details: Provide the registered business address and any tax agent details (if you're a foreign business applying for registration).

Designate Authorized Signatory(ies): Click "Add Authorized Signatory" and enter the details of the person(s) authorized to act on behalf of your business. You can add multiple signatories if needed.

Review and Submit: Carefully review all the information you've entered throughout the application. Once satisfied, check the box to confirm accuracy and click "Submit" to formally submit your application.

Post-Submission:

  • The FTA will review your application and may request additional information via email if needed.
  • You'll receive notification once the FTA reaches a decision (approval, rejection, or request for further details).
  • The status of your application will be updated in your EmaraTax dashboard for your reference.
