How to Register as a Warehouse Keeper and Designated Zone in the UAE

This guide is for businesses in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) who need to register as a Warehouse Keeper and operate a Designated Zone. A Designated Zone is a secure area where excise goods can be stored with a deferred excise tax payment.

This article will walk you through the process of registering with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) using their online e-Services portal.

What You'll Need:

  • A computer with internet access
  • A valid email address
  • Details about your business and Designated Zone

Steps to Register:

Create an e-Services Account:

  • Visit the FTA website: https://tax.gov.ae/en/
  • Click on "Register for e-Services" and create a new account with a username and password.
  • Verify your email address within 24 hours.

Register as a Warehouse Keeper:

  • Log in to your e-Services account.
  • Click on "Register as a Warehouse Keeper".
  • Fill out all the mandatory fields marked with an asterisk (*). These fields will include your business information and contact details.
  • You are required to register at least one Designated Zone during this process.
  • Once complete, submit your application.

Provide Financial Security:

  • The FTA will review your application and determine the amount of financial security required for your Designated Zone. They will contact you via email and SMS with this amount.
  • You will need to visit your bank and set up an e-Guarantee or Bank Guarantee for the requested amount.

Finalize Registration:

  • Once the FTA approves your application, you will need to pay the registration fee for your Designated Zone.
  • After payment, you will receive your Warehouse Keeper Registration Certificate and unique registration numbers for both your business and Designated Zone.

Adding Additional Designated Zones:

If you need to register more than one Designated Zone, you can do so after your initial registration is complete. Simply log in to your e-Services account and click on "Add another designated zone" and follow the same steps as above.
