Reaching the AICRP in Varanasi

The AICRP (Vegetable Crops)  on New Opportunities in Vegetable Production for Sustainable Development is being held at the ICAR-Indian Institute of Vegetable Research (IIVR) in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Here's how you can reach the venue:

1. By Air:

• Nearest Airport: Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport (VNS), Varanasi.
• From the Airport:
  • Taxi: The most convenient option, available at the airport. Taxis are well-connected to the city center and the IIVR.
  • Pre-Paid Taxi: A reliable and secure option with fixed fares.

2. By Rail:

• Nearest Railway Station: Varanasi Junction (also known as Varanasi Cantt.).
• From the Station:
  • Taxi: Easily available outside the station. Ensure you agree on a fare beforehand.
  • Auto-Rickshaw: A more affordable option, but be prepared to bargain.

3. By Road:

• From Nearby Cities: Varanasi is well-connected by national highways. If driving, use GPS navigation or ask for directions to the IIVR, which is located on the outskirts of the city in Jakhini (Shahanshahpur).

Local Transportation from Varanasi:

• Taxi/Auto-Rickshaw: The easiest way to reach IIVR is by hiring a taxi or auto-rickshaw.
• Local Bus: Buses plying from Varanasi Cantt. to Chunar via Adalpura will drop you near IIVR. Check bus schedules for timings.

Accommodation:

• Guest Houses: Limited accommodation is available at government guest houses near the IIVR. Contact the organizers for availability.
• Hotels: Varanasi offers a wide range of hotels to suit different budgets. Consider staying in areas closer to the city center or near the railway station for easier access to transportation.

Additional Tips:

• Weather: Varanasi has pleasant weather in December, but be prepared for cool nights.
• Airport/Station Transfers: If you inform the organizers of your travel plans, they may be able to assist with transportation arrangements.

Important Note:

The IIVR is located in Jakhini (Shahanshahpur), about 25 km from the city center. Plan your transportation accordingly to ensure a smooth and timely arrival at the symposium.
