Refund Scenarios for Delhi Metro Smart Cards
Expired Smart Cards
- Physical Condition: Ok, Electronic Readability: Ok, Readability of Engraved ID: Clear
- Refund Scenario: Only the Security Deposit (SD) is refunded.
- Physical Condition: Ok, Electronic Readability: Unreadable, Readability of Engraved ID: Clear
- Refund Scenario: Only the Security Deposit is refunded.

Valid Smart Cards

Special Conditions for Refunds
- Unusual Incidents: In case of accidents or service disruptions for more than 30 minutes, a full refund is granted at the CST issuing station on the day of occurrence. If the disruption extends beyond 30 minutes, partially used tokens are refunded 50% of the fare.
- Engraved ID Unreadable: No refund is permissible if the engraved ID on the card is not clearly readable.
- Tourist Smart Cards: No refund of the balance amount is provided, but the Security Deposit can be claimed after the validity period ends. However, exceptions may be considered by Metro Railway administration.
- Token Refunds: Full refunds are allowed within the validity period (45 minutes) if the token holder has not entered the paid area. Beyond the validity period, refunds decrease progressively.
Additional Notes
- Replacement of Corrupted/Unreadable CST: A new CST is issued in replacement, allowing the commuter to complete the journey.
- Partially Used CST: No refund is granted under normal circumstances; the token is captured at the exit gate.
- Refund Period: The refund period is a maximum of 30 days from the day of purchase of tokens.
- Security Deposit: Not refundable against physically damaged cards.
