The Right to Information (RTI) Online Portal of Uttarakhand Government provides a convenient platform for citizens to file RTI requests. Below are the frequently asked questions and their answers to help you navigate through the portal effectively.
Applicants can submit applications to seek information under the RTI Act, 2005 through this portal only for the departments and public authorities of the Uttarakhand Government.
The main text of the application can be written in the specified column. Currently, the application text is limited to 500 words in the form's designated column.
Applicants below the poverty line (BPL) are not required to pay any fee as per the RTI rules. However, they must attach a copy of the BPL certificate issued by the competent government authority with their application.
For non-BPL applicants, after filling the first page, they will be directed to the payment page to click the "Pay" button for paying the prescribed RTI fee. Applicants can pay the prescribed RTI fee through Internet Banking, NEFT, RTGS, or e-Challan (via any SBI bank using cheque or cash).
A registration number will be issued for an RTI application, which can be referenced by the applicant for any future reference. This registration number will be sent to the applicant via SMS.
Applications filed through the RTI-Online portal will be electronically forwarded to the concerned department or public authority's nodal officer. The nodal officer will then forward the RTI application to the concerned PIO either electronically or in physical form.
If the RTI application is not related to the department/public authority selected by the applicant, the nodal officer of that department/public authority will electronically transfer the application to the concerned department/public authority (under Section 6(3) of the RTI Act).
If additional fees such as photocopy charges or inspection fees are required, the nodal officer will inform the applicant. This can be checked on the RTI-Online portal under "View Status". Applicants will also be notified via email. Subsequently, applicants can pay the additional fees by providing their application registration number.
To file an appeal to the first appellate authority, the applicant can click on "submit ….. appeal" and fill in the specified form. The appellant can send their appeal with the registration number of the original application as a reference.
Appeals filed on the RTI-Online portal will automatically reach the concerned nodal officer electronically, who will then forward the first appeal to the concerned first appellate authority either electronically or in physical form.
No, you do not need to pay to file an appeal.
Applicants/appealants can provide their mobile number to receive SMS alerts.
