Booking Special Coaches: If you're looking to reserve a special coach or a reserve carriage for a group journey, it's essential to plan ahead. Here's what you need to know:

Application Process: Submit an application in the prescribed form to the Chief Passenger Transportation Manager (CPTM) through the Station Manager at least 30 days in advance but not more than six months prior to your journey's commencement.

Security Deposit: A security deposit of Rs. 10,000 per coach is required at the originating station, half of which will be retained, and the remaining amount adjusted against the fare at the time of booking.

Minimum Distance of Charge: The minimum distance of charge for special coaches/reserve carriages is 500 km for outward and return journeys.

Fare Calculation: The fare is computed based on point-to-point adult Mail/Express fare of the concerned class on a round-trip basis, subject to minimum fares for Sleeper Class.

Development Charge and Service Charge: Development charge and a service charge of 20% on the base fare are levied.

Detention Charge: Detention charges are applicable if the coach is detained at the party's request, with rates varying based on the season and coach type.

Payment and Refund: All charges must be paid at least 48 hours before departure, and refunds are processed by the Station Manager of the originating station.

Cancellation Charges: Cancellation charges apply based on the timing of cancellation, ranging from 10% to 50% of the chargeable fare.

Booking Luggage: For passengers needing to transport luggage, understanding the rules and restrictions is crucial:

Packaging Requirements: Luggage must be securely packed, with proper addressing in English or Hindi.

Booking Process: Present luggage at the booking station at least 30 minutes before the train's departure or book it in advance along with your accommodation.

Bulky Surcharge: Bulky surcharge applies to packages exceeding specified dimensions or weight limits.

Prohibited Items: Certain items such as explosives, inflammable articles, and corrosive substances are not permitted as luggage.

Pet Transportation: Rules for carrying pet dogs vary based on the class of travel, with specific provisions for dog boxes and accompanying passengers.

Excess Luggage Charges: Excess luggage beyond the free allowance is charged at 1.5 times the normal rate, with higher penalties for unbooked or partially booked luggage.

Maximum Limits and Marginal Allowance: Each class has a maximum limit of free luggage allowance, with provisions for carrying excess luggage at additional charges.

Advance Booking for Pets: Pet transportation arrangements must be made at the station counter one hour before the train's departure.
