How to Apply for the Governor's Awards 2024 in Tamil Nadu: A Guide for Social Service and Environmental Protection Contributions

The Governor's Awards 2024, instituted by the Hon'ble Governor of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. R.N. Ravi, are now open for nominations. These prestigious awards celebrate the exceptional contributions of individuals and organizations in two critical areas: Social Service and Environmental Protection. If you or someone you know has dedicated their life to enhancing societal well-being or promoting environmental stewardship within Tamil Nadu, this is an opportunity to be recognized and honored.

Award Categories and Prizes

The awards are divided into two main categories:

1. Social Service: Recognizing impactful contributions to society through various forms of social work.
2. Environmental Protection: Celebrating efforts to preserve and protect the environment.

Each category will have four winners:

• Institutional Winners: One winner per category will receive a cash prize of ₹5,00,000.
• Individual Winners: Three winners per category will receive a cash prize of ₹2,00,000 each.

All winners will also receive a citation and will be felicitated in person by the Hon’ble Governor on Republic Day, January 26, 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for nomination, applicants or nominees must meet the following criteria:

• Must have demonstrated impactful service over a minimum period of 10 years within Tamil Nadu.
• Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and other institutions are also eligible.
• Individuals and institutions can either self-nominate or be nominated by eminent persons such as government officials, Vice-Chancellors, Padma Awardees, or District Collectors.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted both electronically and in hard copy. Here's how you can apply:

Download the Application: Visit the Tamil Nadu Raj Bhavan website at tnrajbhavan.gov.in to download the prescribed application form.

Submit via Email: Complete the application and email it to awardsrajbhavantamilnadu@gmail.com.

Send Hard Copy: Along with the digital submission, send a hard copy of the application and supporting documents to:

Application Deadline

All applications must be submitted by 05:00 p.m. on August 9, 2024. Ensure that both the electronic and hard copies are received by this deadline to be considered.
