High-Level Meeting Chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah Reviews Security and Logistics for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, convened a high-level meeting today in New Delhi to review the security and logistical arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. The meeting saw the presence of key officials, including National Security Advisor Shri Ajit Doval, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Shri Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary, Director of Intelligence Bureau, Senior Army Officers including Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande and Chief of Army Staff (Designate) Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi, Director General of CAPFs, Chief Secretary & DGP of J&K, and other senior officers.

Vigilance and Security Measures

During the review meeting, Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized the need for vigilance and the deployment of sufficient security personnel to ensure the safety of the devotees participating in the Yatra. He stressed the importance of perfect inter-agency coordination for effective security arrangements, which includes a well-established standard operating response mechanism. The objective is to provide a secure environment for the pilgrims, allowing them to undertake the Yatra without any concerns for their safety.

Commitment to a Hassle-Free Experience

Shri Amit Shah highlighted the government’s commitment, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, to ensuring a convenient and hassle-free experience for the devotees. He mentioned that adopting eco-friendly measures in the management of the Shri Amarnath Yatra is a priority for the Modi Government. The administration aims to facilitate easy access to the Holy Darshan, minimizing any difficulties faced by the pilgrims.

Preparations by Jammu and Kashmir Administration

The Amarnath Yatra is set to commence on 29th June, and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has undertaken significant initiatives to ensure the Yatra’s smooth conduct. Last year, over 4.5 lakh devotees participated in the pilgrimage. This year, the administration has made elaborate arrangements, including:

  • Seamless Registration: Ensuring an efficient and streamlined registration process for the pilgrims.
  • Convoy Movement: Organizing the movement of convoys to enhance security and manage the flow of pilgrims.
  • Camping Facilities: Providing adequate camping facilities along the Yatra route.
  • Medical Facilities: Setting up medical camps and ensuring the availability of medical services for the pilgrims.
  • Upgrading Tracks: Improving the tracks to ensure safe and easy passage for the devotees.
  • Power and Water Supply: Ensuring uninterrupted power and water supply to the camps and along the route.
  • Mobile Phone Connectivity: Enhancing mobile phone connectivity to aid communication and coordination.
