Guide to Filing Property Tax Return on MCD Portal 2024 | Step-by-Step Instructions

Filing your property tax return in Delhi is now more straightforward with the unified MCD portal. This guide provides a detailed, step-by-step approach to help taxpayers navigate through the process of filing property tax returns, managing UPICs, and understanding exemptions. The following sections will guide you through each step involved in this process.

1. Purpose

The purpose of this user manual is to outline the steps for e-filing property tax returns on the MCD portal. This manual is designed to help taxpayers understand how to manage their property tax obligations, including e-filing, UPIC management, geotagging, and more.

2. About Property Tax

Property tax is a vital civic responsibility for all property owners within the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Following the unification of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), and East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC), the process has been centralized, allowing for a more streamlined approach to managing property taxes.

3. Impact of Delimitation Process on Merged Wards, Zones, or Colonies

The delimitation process, which merged various wards, zones, and colonies, has implications for property tax filings. Taxpayers must be aware of the changes in ward or zone designations that may affect their tax liabilities. These changes are listed in Annexure_2 of the MCD portal, and taxpayers from merged areas will be notified when they initiate the property tax payment process.
