Gorakhpur Police Arrest Two with 44 Pouches of Illicit Liquor and Chemicals

Gorakhpur, 09 August 2024: In a significant operation aimed at curbing the illegal trade of intoxicants, the Gorakhpur Police have arrested two individuals for possession of illicit liquor and chemicals. The operation was conducted under the directives of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Gorakhpur, as part of a broader campaign to crack down on illegal activities related to drug trafficking and smuggling in the district.

Key Details of the Arrest

Seized Items:

  • 44 pouches of illicit liquor (each pouch containing 250 ml of illegal liquor)
  • 500 grams of Nauseadar (an illegal chemical additive)
  • 1 kilogram of urea (commonly used to adulterate substances)

Arrested Individuals:

Batasha Devi, wife of Badalram Chauhan, resident of Jungle Dumri No. 1 Tola, Aurahiya, Gulriha, Gorakhpur.

    • FIR No. 01/2022, Section 60 Excise Act, Gulriha Police Station, Gorakhpur.
    • FIR No. 736/2024, Section 274 IPC and Section 60 Excise Act, Gulriha Police Station, Gorakhpur.

Pooja Devi, wife of Damthlesh Chauhan, resident of Jungle Dumri No. 1 Tola, Aurahiya, Gulriha, Gorakhpur.

  • Criminal History:
    • FIR No. 736/2024, Section 274 IPC and Section 60 Excise Act, Gulriha Police Station, Gorakhpur.

Police Operation

The arrests were made following a coordinated effort by the Gulriha Police under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police, City, and the area supervision of the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Gorakhnath. The operation was led by Inspector Anjani Kumar Tiwari, Station Officer of Gulriha Police Station, with the assistance of the following team members:

Legal Proceedings

The seized items and the arrested individuals have been booked under FIR No. 736/2024, registered under Section 274 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 60 of the Excise Act at Gulriha Police Station, Gorakhpur. Further legal action is being pursued to ensure that the accused face appropriate charges under the law.
