Empowering Women and Children: Six Bharosa Centers Open in Nirmal

In a significant move towards bolstering women and child safety, the state women safety wing inaugurated six 'Bharosa centers' in Nirmal district on Sunday, expanding the total count to 26 across the state. These centers, currently operational from rented premises, are slated to be relocated to a newly constructed building equipped with modern facilities, courtesy of corporate social responsibility funding.

The inaugural ceremony witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries including Shikha Goel, Additional Director General, Nirmal Sessions Judge A. Karnakumar, and District Police Superintendent G. Janaki Sharmila.

Bharosa centers are dedicated to providing specialized assistance to victims, with a particular emphasis on addressing contemporary forms of crime against women and children. Since their inception, these centers have handled a staggering 4,782 cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, pertaining to crimes against minors, along with 1,163 cases of rape, as per the official press release.
