Conviction Under "Operation Conviction" in Varanasi: Accused Sentenced to Imprisonment and Fine

Varanasi, 09 August 2024: Under the ongoing "Operation Conviction" initiative, the Varanasi Police achieved a significant success today as the accused in a fatal road accident case was sentenced by the Hon'ble Court of ACJM-07, Varanasi. The case, registered under FIR No. 50/2002 at Shivpur Police Station, involved charges under sections 279 and 304-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Details of the Conviction

  • Accused: Anil Kumar Gupta, son of Dhammanarayan Gupta, resident of 05-29/425, Shivpur, Police Station Shivpur, District Varanasi.
  • Charges: The accused was charged under Section 279 (rash driving) and Section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC.
  • Court Verdict: Today, on 09 August 2024, the Hon'ble Court of ACJM-07, Varanasi, found the accused guilty and sentenced him to imprisonment till the rising of the court. Additionally, a fine of ₹1,000 was imposed on the accused.
