In a significant move to preserve and showcase Maharashtra's rich cultural heritage, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's renowned Wagh Nakh (tiger claws) will be displayed at the government museum in Satara from July 19. Cultural Affairs Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar announced this decision in the Assembly, marking an important event for history enthusiasts and devotees of the great Maratha warrior.
These historic tiger claws, associated with the valor and strategic prowess of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, will remain in the Satara museum for a duration of three years. The minister emphasized that no rent is being charged for these priceless artifacts, underlining the government's commitment to making this heritage accessible to the public.
Mungantiwar highlighted that while there are several tiger claws in various collections across the state, none have been claimed to be used by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, making this exhibit exceptionally unique. The Wagh Nakh are symbolic of the legendary king's bravery and ingenuity in warfare, particularly known for their use in hand-to-hand combat.
