When applying for a Schengen visa, one of the crucial requirements is having valid travel medical insurance. This insurance must cover any medical emergencies during your stay in the Schengen Area. The list below includes approved Indian travel insurance companies that meet the necessary requirements for Schengen visa procedures, effective from February 2023.

The following companies have been approved by the consular posts of Schengen states for providing travel medical insurance for Schengen visa applications. This approval ensures that the insurance policies meet the standards required for coverage in Schengen states.

Important Notes:

Visa Application Requirements:

• Visa applicants must possess adequate and valid travel medical insurance covering repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention, emergency hospital treatment, or death.
• For single or double entry visas, insurance must cover the entire period of the intended stay in Schengen states.
• For multiple entry visas, insurance must cover the period of the first intended visit. Applicants must also acknowledge the need for insurance for subsequent stays.
• The minimum coverage required is EUR 30,000.

Insurance Validity:

• The insurance must be valid throughout the entire territory of the Schengen states.
• It must be taken out in the applicant's country of residence or in any other country where claims against the insurance company can be recovered in a Schengen state.

Additional Considerations:

Group and Corporate Travels:

• For corporate travel and group travels, the consular posts can verify individual coverage through the Travel Insurance Portals of Non-Life Insurers of the General Insurance Council.
• If verification fails, a new travel medical insurance policy may be required for visa approval.
