In a recent development at the Consumer Disputes Redressal District Commission of Ahmedabad City, complainant Mr. Deepak S. Sheth withdrew his complaint against ICICI Bank Ltd. The case, which was initially filed under the Consumer Protection Act, involved a dispute related to banking services provided by ICICI Bank.
Mr. Deepak S. Sheth, a resident of Ahmedabad and a self-employed entrepreneur engaged in the business of gift articles, stationery, and printing, had filed a consumer complaint against ICICI Bank. The complaint was related to grievances regarding banking services that the complainant alleged were deficient.
Mr. Sheth's residence and business premises were located at 6 Mitesh Apartments, New Vikas Gruh Road, Paldi, Ahmedabad. The opposite party, ICICI Bank Ltd., operates from its Heritage Chambers branch at Azad Society, Nehru Nagar, Ahmedabad.
The complaint was filed under the Consumer Protection Act, which provides a mechanism for addressing grievances of consumers against service providers. Although the specific details of the grievance were not outlined in the withdrawal application, it was related to Mr. Sheth's business dealings with ICICI Bank.
On May 26, 2022, Mr. Sheth submitted a formal Withdrawal Pursis to the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. In his application, he stated that he no longer wished to proceed with the case.
Mr. Sheth cited his decision to withdraw the complaint as being in the "interest of justice." He requested the Hon'ble Commission to allow him to withdraw the matter without proceeding further.
The case was officially withdrawn, and the matter stands resolved as per the complainant's request. While the reasons for the withdrawal remain undisclosed, this case highlights the flexibility within the Consumer Protection Act framework for parties to withdraw their complaints if they no longer wish to pursue the matter.
