Zaira Wasim aka Zai, Boo was born on 23 October 2000 into a Muslim family in Kashmir. By profession, she is an actress. Her Father Zahid Wasim is an executive manager in Srinagar and her Mother Zarqa Wasim is a teacher. She attended St. Paul’s International Academy, Sonwar to complete her basic education and in the 10th Board Examination she scored 92 percent.
In June 2015, Wasim was signed for the superhit biological sports film Dangal (2016) Co-starring with Aamir Khan and it was her debut film. From this Dangal received positive reviews from critics and declared as the Highest-Grossing Indian film worldwide with a gross of over 20 billion (INR) worldwide. Wasim got many positive reviews from the audience and several awards like- Best Supporting Actress and nominated for the Best Female Debut.
She had her first lead role, alongside Aamir Khan in the 2017 film Secret Superstar. Secret Superstar became the 3rd Highest Grossing India film with a gross of over 9 billion(INR) worldwide. She received many awards and nominated for her performance. In November 2017 she was honoured by National Child Award For Exceptional Achievement, by Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India for her performances in both Dangal and Secret Superstar. In March 2019, she has completed her shooting for The Sky Is Pink. It’s the biopic of motivational speaker Aisha Chaudhary. Co-starring with Farhan Akhtar and Priyanka Chopra and it is set to release on 11 October 2019 in India. In June 2019 she announced that she would be going to leave Bollywood industry due to her religious reasons.
