He was born on 23 Jul 1951 (age 70 years according to 2021) in Nainijor, Distt. Buxar (Bihar). His father’s name is Late Shri Mukha Ram and his mother’s name is Late Smt. Ramrati Devi. His educational qualification is B.A. (Hons) from Patna College, Patna University (Bihar). His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He married Smt. Vishnu Dayal Ram started his career as a Director General of Police, Jharkhand for 2005-11. After that, he took his feet into the political world as he was first elected to 16th Lok Sabha in 2014 from Palamu (Jharkhand) Constituency with which he was made a member of the Standing Committee on Water Resources, Welfare of Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes, Consultative Committee, Ministry of Coal. He has been Chairman of Jharkhand Chapter and member of Joint Parliamentary Committee on Security in Parliament House Complex. In 2019, he was re-elected to 17th Lok Sabha (2nd term) from the same constituency and became a member of the Committee on Public Accounts, Standing Committee on Home Affairs, Rules Committee.
