He was born on 18 July 1962 (age 59 years according to 2021) in Village Jhanjhari Purwa, Distt. Banda (Uttar Pradesh), India. His father’s name is Late Shri Shrikrishan Nishad (a small farmer in Jhanjharipurwa) and his mother’s name is Shrimati Shivkali Nishad. His educational qualification is M.A. (Economics), LL. B. educated at Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Degree College, Banda and Bundelkhand University, Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh). His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He is married to Shrimati Shakuntala Nishad on 20 April 1987 and has four children two sons and two daughters.
Vishambhar Prasad Nishad started his political career as a candidate of the Samajwadi Party and was first elected to the Member of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly (four times) for 1991-92, 1993-95, 2002-05, and 2007-12. In between, he has been Minister of State of Revenue, Government of Uttar Pradesh for 1993-95 and has been Minister of State (Independent Charge), Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Government of Uttar Pradesh. In 1996, he was elected to the Eleventh Lok Sabha. He has been worked at the position of Minister of Geology and Mining, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and Minister of Dr. Ambedkar Gram Vikas Yojana, Government of Uttar Pradesh. In 2014, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha and re-elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2016. He has participated in the movements launched by the farmers in Bundelkhand on issues relating to electricity, water, drought.
