Vinay Sahasrabuddhe is a famous Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Social Worker, and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), the upper house of the Indian Parliament from the state of Maharashtra. He was born on 10 November 1957 (age 64 years according to 2021) in Nashik (Maharashtra), India. His father’s name is Shri Prabhakar Sahasrabuddhe and his mother’s name is Shrimati Sudha Sahasrabuddhe. His educational qualification is B.A., M.A., Ph.D. from Ruia College, and S.I.E.S. College, University of Mumbai, Mumbai. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He is married to Shrimati Nayana Sahasrabuddhe on 11 March 1987 and has one son.
Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe started his political career at an early age as he first joined Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) from 1983 to 1985 and has been ABVP's National Secretary for 1985-87. After that, he actively joined politics as a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party. In 2016, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state of Maharashtra. He has been served at the position of Chairman of Select Committee of Rajya Sabha on the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2017, Chairman of Select Committee of Rajya Sabha on the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains (Amendment) Bill, 2018. Currently, he is serving as a President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Chairman of the Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth, and Sports. He is also the recipient of the Maharashtra Government Best Literary Work Award, 1998, and Pune Nagar Vachan Mandir Award for the Marathi book ‘Aahe Loktantra Tareehee’, 2011.
