Muraleedharan is a famous Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Socio-Political Activist, Social Worker, and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), the upper house of the Indian Parliament from the state of Maharashtra. He was born on 12 December 1958 (age 63 years according to 2021) in Thalassery, Kannur district, Kerala, India. His father’s name is Shri Gopalan Vannathan Veettil and his mother’s name is Shrimati Devaki Namballi Vellam Velli. His educational qualification is Graduate in English Language and Literature from Government Brennen College, Thalassery. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He is married to Dr. K. S. Jayasree (a Sanskrit lecturer at Sree Narayana College, Nattika) in 1998.
Vellamvelly Muraleedharan was first appointed to the Regional Organizing Secretary of ABVP, Kozhikode for 1981–1983, State Organizing Secretary of ABVP for 1983–1994, All India Secretary of ABVP for 1987–1990, and All India General Secretary of ABVP for 1994–1996. He has also been appointed to the Vice Chairman of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan for 1999-2002 and then Director-General of Nehru Yuva Kendra for 2002-2004, National convener of NGO cell of BJP in 2005, Vice President, Kerala BJP for 2006–2010, and President, Kerala BJP state fraction for 2010–2015. In 2018, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state of Maharashtra. Currently, he is serving as a Govt. Deputy Chief Whip of Rajyasabha, Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs, and Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs since 2019.
