He was born on 12 May 1960 (age 61 years according to 2021) in Talikulam, Thrissur District, Kerala, India. His father’s name is Shri Narayanan and his mother’s name is Smt. Kalikutty. His educational qualification is Pre-Degree from S.N. College Nattika, Calicut University, Kerala. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He married Smt. Rema Prathapan on 26 Dec 1990 and has two children one son and one daughter. He loves reading, listening to songs and ghazals, cinema, sports, Badminton (Shuttle), football, volleyball.
T. N. Prathapan started his career as a candidate for the Indian National Congress (INC). He was first elected to the member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly from Nattika Assembly Constituency and Kodungallur Assembly Constituency for consecutive three terms (2001 – 2016). In 2019, he was elected to the 17th Lok Sabha from Thrissur constituency and became a member of the Standing Committee on Human Resource Development. Currently, he is serving as a member of Committee on Papers Laid on the Table, Consultative Committee for Ministry of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, the National Chairman of All India Fishermen Congress and Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth, and Sport. He is also Writes Poems, Writes articles in newspapers and periodicals, Publishes Ghazal Audio Album, Writes Stories and essays and his published book is Orma Kalude Snehatheeram (Aug. 2020).
