Swami Sumedhanand Saraswati is an Indian politician. He was born on October 1, 1951 (age 70 years), Rohtak, India. He did his study at Chaudhary Charan Singh University Meerut. He is a Member of the Lok Sabha since 2014. His father’s name is Shri Maya Ram Arya and his mother’s name is Smt. Bharti Devi. He thrives to educate the youth and imbibing social and moral values in them. He has a special interest in Yoga. He has launched a special drive for de-addiction in rural areas. He left home in 1972 to study Sanskrit while studying Sanskrit, he undertook to teach for eight years, took `Deksha` from Swami Sarvanandji in 1984, and became `Sanyasi`. While doing social work, got associated with BJP in 1989. He participated in movements like "Save Cow" (Gauraksha) and "Prohibition of liquor" etc. He played an active role in J.P. Movement also. Sumedha Nand Saraswati was elected to the 16th Lok Sabha. Later in September 2014, he was appointed as Member, Standing Committee on Human Resource Development, Member, Committee on Ethics, Member, Consultative Committee, Ministry of Agriculture and Member, Hindi Salahkar Samiti, Ministry of Human Resource Development.
