Sushila Chanu is a famous Indian women’s field hockey player. She is also known as Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam and Pukhrambam Ongbi Lata. She was born on 25 February 1992 (age 29 years according to 2021) in Imphal, Manipur, India. Her father’s name is Pukhrambam Shyamsundar (Driver) and her mother’s name is Pukhrambam Ongbi Lata Devi (homemaker). She has an elder sister and a younger brother. She did her schooling at Lilasing Khongnang Khong High School, Imphal. Her religion belongs to is Hinduism and nationality, Indian. Her height is 161cm, 1.61m, 5 feet, and 3 inches and her weight is 52kg, in pounds 115 lbs. Eye color is Black and hair color is also Black. She plays as Halfback for the India national field hockey team.
Chanu made her fantastic international debut as won the bronze medal at the 2008 Women's Hockey Junior Asia Cup which was held in Kuala Lumpur. She came into the limelight when she played at the 2013 Junior World Cup at Mönchengladbach, Germany, and won bronze. In 2014 Chanu made her international debut in the senior national field hockey squad at the 2014 Asian Games was held in Incheon, South Korea in which India won bronze. After that, due to her performance, India reached the semifinals of the 2014–15 Women's FIH Hockey World League held at Antwerp, Belgium. She becomes captain of the national team in the 2016 Rio Olympics and led the team at the four-nation tournament in Australia. Chanu has been played more than 150th international matches. She has also been working as a junior ticket collector in the central Mumbai Railway. She is regarded as the most technically sound player in the current Indian Hockey team.
