Suma Shirur is a famous Indian 10 m air rifle shooter and her full name is Suma Betaraya Dixit. She was born on 10 May 1974 (age 47 years according to 2021) in Chikkaballapur, Karnataka state of India. Her height is 160cm, 1.60m, 5 feet, and 3 inches. Her religion belongs to is Hinduism and nationality, Indian. She did her schooling at St. Xavier's High School, Nerul, Junior College in Fr. Agnel's Vashi in Navi Mumbai, and her educational qualification is graduation in Chemistry from South Indian Education Society. She got married to Siddharth Shirur (an architect). Her current club is Indian Railways. Suma is an athletic girl who dabbled well in several competitive sports, including Gymnastics. She got tanning from very famous coaches named Sanjay Chakraverty and Shri.B.P.Bam.
Suma was passionate about shooting since her college days as she was a part of the National Cadet Corps. She made her debut at the Maharashtra Rifle Association in which he earned three silver medals held in 1993. She became the National Junior Champion following a laudable victory at the 1994 Junior National Championships, held in Chennai. After that, she represented Karnataka and the Gold medal in the 10-meter air rifle event at the 1997 National Games, Bangalore. In 2002, she made her international debut as she was part of the Indian team which won a Silver medal at the 2002 Asian Games, Busan and Bagged a gold medal or a silver medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, Manchester. She has been part of the 2006 Asian Games, held in Doha where she finished with a Silver medal.
After that Bagged a gold medal at the 2004 Asian Athletics Championship creating a joint world record by scoring the maximum of 400 points in the qualification state. She was also part of the Commonwealth Games of 2010, held in Delhi, and won a Bronze medal in a 10m Air rifle pairs event. She has been honored with many awards these are Shiv Chatrapati Krida Puraskar in 1996 by Govt of Maharashtra, Arjuna Award in 2003 by Govt of India, and Sportswoman of the Year in 2005 by Hero Honda Sports Awards. Also, she has been won more than 12 medals at the international level. Currently, she is working as Chief Coach of MPSA.
