Sudip Bandyopadhyay is a famous Indian politician, Social Worker, and Member of Parliament. He was born on 10 December 1952 (age 68 years according to 2021) in Berhampore, Distt. Murshidabad, West Bengal, India. His father’s name is Late Shri Bisweswar Bandyopadhyay and his mother’s name is Smt. Jyotsna Bandyopadhyay. His educational qualification is B.Sc. from K.N. College, Berhampore, West Bengal His religion belongs to Hinduism and nationality, Indian. He married Nayna Bandyopadhyay on 15 Jul 1991. Sudip Bandyopadhyay started his political career with Indian National Congress in 1977. He was first elected to the Member of West Bengal Legislative Assembly, 10th, 11th, 12th & 14th Vidhan Sabha (Four Terms). He was first elected to 12th Lok Sabha in 1998 and in the same year he was made a member of Committee on Public Undertakings, member of Business Advisory Committee, member of Standing Committee on Urban and Rural Development, member of Standing Committee on Communications, member of Consultative Committee for Ministry of Railways. In 1999, he was re-elected to 13th Lok Sabha (2nd term) and appointed as Chief Whip of All India Trinamool Congress Parliamentary Party, Lok Sabha. After that he was re-elected to 15th Lok Sabha (3rd term), Re-elected to 16th Lok Sabha (4th term). In 2011, he was made Leader of All India Trinamool Congress Parliamentary Party, Lok Sabha also Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare. In 2014, he was appointed as a Leader of the AITC Party in Lok Sabha (16th). He has also been Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Railways for three years (2016-19). Currently, he is Chairperson of Standing Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, member of 17th Lok Sabha (5th term), Member of Samsad (Court) of Visva-Bharati, Member of Consultative Committee, Ministry of Defence, Member of Consultative Committee, Ministry of Civil Aviation since 2019.
