Subrat Dutta is an Indian actor who born on 16th November 1975. He was born in Bankura, West Bengal. He is an eldest one of his three brothers. He did his schooling from Bankura Christian Collegiate School and received a degree in Zoology from Bankura Sammilani College. After that, he was preparing for his post graduation in MBA he had no planning for the Filmy career. Then suddenly he caught an advertisement about theatre workshop. The workshop was for 40 days and then they organize by Nation School of Drama in Berhampore.
After completing his masters in Drama school he received a scholarship from Charles Wallace Trust. He joined Central School of Speech and Drama, London. He started his career in acting by NSD Repertory Company. He played lead role in around 35 plays. Then he learnt dance from Pranatl Sengupta. He took part in Tagore Dance Drama.
Subrat made his first film debut in 1999 by the film Karvaan which was directed by Pankaj Batulia. Then he did his Bengali debut film Uttara directed by Buddhadev Dasgupta in which he played the role of Hindu Militant. In the starting of his career, he worked in several TV series. In 2010, he appeared in the film Powder by Yash Raj Films. Then he made a mixture of Bollywood and Bengali films including 88 Antop Hill (2003), Swapner Feriwala (2002) and Zammen (2003). Then he did the portrayal of a common man in Subrata Sen’s Bengali Film Bibar. The film was based on the novel of Samaresh Basu. After that, he played the role of villain Indrajit in the commercial film Jor.
In 2009, he won the Best Actor Award at the Cairo International Film Festival. Next, he featured in the film Rakhchitra part 1 and &2, where he played the character of AK in Hindi. Later, he appeared in several Bengali films like Achin Pakhi and Antrim Shah Sundar. In the year 2012, he appeared in Bollywood film Talaash. Then he worked in the film Roar: Tigers of the Sundarbans in 2014. Next, he appeared in the film The Shaukeens which was starred by Akshay Kumar. He also appeared in several films including Bumper Draw (2015), Charlie Kay Chakkar Mein (2015) and Sameer (2017). He next appeared in the film Humne Gandhi Ko Maar Diya (2018).
Subrat is a Yoga expert. He married to Rabijita Gogoi who is a theatre director. They got married 29th August 2006 and they have a beautiful daughter named Aatreyi who born on 8th June 2010.
