He was born on 21 December 1957 (age 64 years according to 2021) in Kolkata (West Bengal), India. His father’s name is Late Padmapani Chakraborty and his mother’s name is Late Shrimati Prativa Rani Chakraborty. His educational qualification is B.Sc. , LL.B. educated at Ashutosh College and Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri Law College, Calcutta University, Kolkata (West Bengal). His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He is married to Shrimati Soma Chakraborty (Councilor -KMC) on 20 February 1994 and has one son.
Subhasish Chakraborty started his political career as a candidate of the Indian National Congress and later joined the All India Trinamool Congress in 1997. In 2018, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state of West Bengal with which he was made a member of the Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs, and Public Distribution and a member of the Committee on Industry. Currently, he is serving as a Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and a member of the Committee on Housing and Urban Affairs.
